Coral-red glaze is a type of low-temperature iron-red glaze applied on white porcelain body and fired at a lower temperature. The glazing process involves blowing the glaze onto the surface. After firing, the glaze appears even and lustrous, rivaling the color of natural coral, hence the name "coral-red glaze." In the mid-Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, coral-red glaze exhibits a deep and vibrant hue with a thick glaze layer.
This vase underwent the technique of hand-pulling the neck, joining segments, and subsequent refinement. The interior of the mouth and foot are coated with a natural turquoise glaze, characteristic of Official kilns. The vase's form is typical of the Qianlong era, featuring a gold rimmed mouth with a thick lip, short neck, flaring shoulders, and a tapered body below the waist.
The gilt decoration on this piece encompasses the mouth's outer edge with a gilded scrolling pattern and ruyi head motifs. The main body of the vase is adorned with a five-claw dragon motif among sea waves and clouds. The dragon's head features a mei-hua (plum blossom) finial, representing the standard dragon head style of the mid-Qianlong period. The background of the dragon motif is decorated with gilded cloud patterns and flaming pearl motifs. The base displays a gilt sea wave pattern, which has developed oxidation effects over time. The overall motif and painting style adhere to the prevalent decorative technique and craftsmanship of Official kilns during the mid-Qianlong period. The painting is smooth, neat, and finely detailed.
The vase's base has a rounded foot with exposed clay, displaying standard high-quality clay with slight impurities. The inscription is written in the standard mid-Qianlong period blue and white style, with the blue pigment slightly penetrating the body.

The inscription is in six characters arranged in three lines: "Da Qing Qianlong Nian Zhi" (Made in the Qianlong Reign of the Great Qing Dynasty). Notably, the horizontal stroke in the character "年" (nian) is broken in the middle, and the upper part of the "制" (zhi) character is composed of two strokes.
