It features a long straight neck, ample shoulders, rounded body, and tapered foot. There are visible join marks at the neck and shoulders, indicating the process of joining clay parts during production. The joined areas have been finely reworked both internally and externally, showcasing meticulous craftsmanship in line with the repair techniques and vessel style of the Ming Dynasty era.
The celestial globe vase underwent the process of carving the intricate leafy floral pattern before being coated with a dip celadon glaze. The celadon glaze, reminiscent of lush summer foliage, is slightly impure, representing the standard celadon color palette of the Ming Dynasty's mid to late period. The glaze is thick and pools in the recesses of the patterns, creating a three-dimensional aesthetic. Particularly, the areas where the neck and shoulders were joined display noticeable glaze pooling, resulting in a light soybean hue. This technique is representative of the crafting process of Ming Dynasty celadon during its mid to late period.
The belly of the vase features distinct recessed glaze holes, and the exposed clay at the foot exhibits a fine and smooth texture, characteristic of the standard high-quality clay used during the Ming Dynasty's mid to late period. The foot has a rounded and level shape, conforming to the standard foot shaping techniques of the era. The exposed clay at the foot also carries the standard Ming Dynasty mid to late period fiery reddish hue, a physical reaction resulting from the high-temperature firing process in a wood-fired kiln. The entire piece displays subtle crackling and bears the weathered marks of age.
